MeowMC

The web editor

Beta

State

Beta. The web editor is client-side only: scenes are assembled in the browser and exported as .meowui — nothing is stored server-side.

A scene authoring page at meowmc.org/editor: edit a document, pull a file in, push a file out, no account, no server-side storage.

One schema, two consumers

The palette, the property panel and the export all run off the same component property schemas the server validates against.

The editing surface

  • Component palette (left): the built-in components with a one-line plain-language description each, drag-to-scene or click-to-add. Template rows below it.
  • Property panel (right): the selected component's properties as labelled fields — text areas, colour pickers for ARGB, vanilla item and block selectors, offset triples, dropdowns for enum properties. Every field shows its validation rule next to it, in the same words the server's loader would use to refuse the file.
  • Placeholder picker — a two-grouped list (scene-global / per-viewer) of every known placeholder, each with a plain-language description and a click-to-insert (placeholders).
  • Pages and repeat: add and reorder pages; a repeat panel generates a component row over a list.
  • Action-list editor: for a hitbox, a list of action rows with per-field dropdowns and a picker over the scene's named functions. The closed action set is enforced by the UI itself — there is no free-text action-type field anywhere.
  • Validation board: the editor re-runs the server's load-time rules on every edit, reporting file-level and component-level errors before export.

The preview is a preview

The preview is a canvas schematic: text components as their wrapped lines at true relative position, item and block components as labelled quads, hitboxes as dashed outlines, pages as tabs.

The editor states it in the UI itself: "this is a layout preview, not an in-game render — how a hologram actually looks requires the game, with the scene installed." The author supplies mock values ({server_name: "My Server", online: 12, kills: 42, …}) so a {kills} line shows a number; the panel is captioned as mock values and no live server is contacted.

A small bundled gallery of hand-authored starter scenes: a server-info panel, a kills/deaths leaderboard, a warp board with hitbox rows, an NPC shop-front sign. Each is "duplicate, edit, export". Community scenes circulate as .meowui files.

What the editor never does

  • no requests of any kind — nothing leaves the browser;
  • no account — none exists on meowmc.org;
  • no live server connection — the clipboard and the file system are the transport;
  • no server-side scene storage, ever;
  • no auto-publish — the final step is the author's: drop the .meowui file into the server's holograms/ folder and run /meow hologram reload.

The page is keyboard-reachable, honours prefers-reduced-motion, and labels the palette and panels with real headings so assistive technology sees a document.
